Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about what it’s like to start therapy? Below are answers to common questions about working with Robbin Cooley, LPC, including information about individual therapy, couples therapy, online sessions, fees, and insurance for clients in Phoenix, Arizona and across Arizona and Texas.

  • I offer in-person therapy sessions in Phoenix, Arizona, in the Arcadia/Biltmore area.

I also provide virtual therapy for clients located anywhere in Arizona and Texas.

Many clients appreciate the flexibility of online sessions, which allow us to meet from the comfort of your home or office.

  • Online therapy sessions take place through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform.

Once your appointment is scheduled, you will receive a private link to join your session. At the scheduled time, you simply click the link from your computer, tablet, or phone.

Online therapy offers the same level of confidentiality and effectiveness as in-person sessions while allowing greater flexibility and convenience.

  • Session times vary throughout the week. Current availability is typically during weekday daytime hours.

Availability changes periodically, so the best way to view current openings is to reach out directly or request a consultation.

If you are in need of support outside these hours, please contact the EMPACT Crisis line (480-448-7500) or visit the nearest mental health care hospital. If you are in the Phoenix Valley, Banner Behavioral Health is located in Scottsdale. They are a mental health hospital with 24/7 walk-in services. They accept most major insurances.

However, many insurance plans provide reimbursement for out-of-network mental health services. If your plan offers these benefits, I can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

  • Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of services.

This estimate outlines the anticipated cost of therapy services based on the information available at the time it is provided. The estimate is meant to help you understand and plan for the financial aspects of care.

You will receive this information during the intake process.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, I ask that you provide at least 48 hours notice.

Appointments canceled with less than 48 hours notice, or missed appointments, may be charged the full session fee.

This policy helps ensure that session times remain available for clients who need them.

  • The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and the challenges you are navigating.

Some clients come for a shorter period of time to address a specific issue, while others engage in longer-term work focused on deeper relational or personal growth.

During our initial sessions, we will clarify your goals and regularly revisit progress along the way.

  • A limited number of sliding scale spots may be available based on financial need.

If cost is a concern, you are welcome to ask about current availability.

  • Yes. I work with couples who want to strengthen communication, better understand their relational patterns, and build a stronger connection.
